As a Show of Concern for Others, the PAL UKM of the Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University, Distributes Aid to Flood Victims in Sumatra

Tamalanrea-Makassar. The Student Activity Unit (UKM) Pandu Alam Lingkungan (PAL) of the Faculty of Forestry at Hasanuddin University (Unhas) distributed basic food aid to communities affected by flooding in Sumatra. This donation demonstrates UKM PAL’s concern for the flood victims and their efforts to help those in need.

The funds collected are the result of fundraising from members and alumni of the UKM PAL Faculty of Forestry, Unhas.

UKM PAL then sent the funds to be spent by aid distributors on several items that would be sent for the needs of flood victims in the Sumatra region.

Through an interview, Monday (6/1/2026), the Chairman of UKM PAL, Andi Arya Euro Stanley said that the aid distribution process was carried out by sending the collected funds to the aid distribution team in Sumatra, then spent on basic necessities and given to three locations affected by the flood, namely Payah Rabo Lhok Village, Sawang District, Gampong Geudumbhak Village, Sawang District and Gampoeng Biram Cut Village, Tanah Jambo Aye District.

“We sincerely hope that this assistance will ease the burden on flood victims in Sumatra, providing them with strength and encouragement to remain strong amidst this ordeal and bounce back,” Arya explained.

Arya also emphasized the importance of the spirit of mutual cooperation and solidarity in facing natural disasters such as the floods that hit the Aceh and Sumatra regions.

“This disaster reminds us of the importance of solidarity, caring, and a sense of togetherness as one people, one Indonesian nation,” said Arya.

Arya stated that UKM PAL continues to carry out humanitarian actions like this as part of the student organization’s commitment to upholding a sense of concern for fellow human beings. UKM PAL also provided aid to flood victims in Luwu in 2024.

Distribution will begin on December 18, 2025, and will be completed on January 5, 2026.
