Tamalanrea-Makassar. Hasanuddin University (Unhas) through the Directorate of Education is again holding Unhas Open Day (UOD) 2025 activities. Activities will take place starting at 08.30 WITA at JK Arena (GOR) Unhas, Saturday (8/2/2025).
This time, the UOD Faculty of Forestry Unhas also collaborated with Sipongi to enliven this activity. Sipongi is a mascot for forest and land fire control designed by the Directorate of Forest and Land Fire Control of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) as one of the mascots representing the fire disaster in East Kalimantan since 1982 and 1983 which resulted in many orangutans being threatened with death.
This year the UOD is being implemented for the third time, this activity has been taking place since 2023 and is routinely carried out every year as a step in introducing and promoting the university in general and the faculty in particular.
Deputy Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Ir. Syamsu Rijal, S.Hut., M.Si., IPU. In his interview, he expressed his gratitude to the Director of Forest Fire Control, Ministry of Environment and Forestry, who was directly involved in the implementation of UOD 2025 by sending the Sipongi and Manggala Agni mascots to enliven this activity.
“The presence of the Sipongi mascot in the implementation of UOD this time provides positive value and extraordinary attraction for students throughout South Sulawesi, this can be seen from the enthusiasm of students who visited the Unhas Forestry Faculty booth to take photos together with Sipongi as well as to discuss study programs at the Unhas Forestry Faculty,” said Prof. Jay is his nickname.
Prof. Jay hopes that this activity will run smoothly until the end of the activity and that Sipongi can continue to be involved in implementing UOD next year.
On this occasion, the Director of Forest Fire Control, KLHK, Ir. Nifinluri, M.Sc. expressed his gratitude to the Head of the Faculty of Forestry, Unhas, who has involved the Directorate of Forest and Land Fire Control, KLHK, in this case Sipongi and Manggala Agni, in implementing the Unhas Open Day 2025 activities.
“I hope that this activity can be carried out well, and that Sipongi’s presence can provide positive value for the Faculty of Forestry, Unhas. “It is an honor for us to be involved in an event of this magnitude organized by Unhas,” explained Thomas Nifinluri.
The activity lasted for 2 (two) days, namely 8 s.d. February 9, 2025.
