Makassar, January 19, 2026 —Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of Universitas Hasanuddin held an event entitled “Perspectives on Chronic Diseases in Holistic Health”, combined with its regular monthly gathering, at the 1st Floor Hall of the Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Hasanuddin.

The Chairwoman of DWP Unhas, Mrs. Hartati Tamti Jamaluddin Jompa, emphasized that holistic health education is a strategic step in building resilient and healthy families.“Early prevention through the adoption of a healthy lifestyle must continue to be promoted to ensure a good quality of life,” she stated.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the DWP Unit of the Faculty of Forestry Unhas, Mrs. Nindrayati A. Mujetahid M., expressed her appreciation for the trust given to the Faculty of Forestry as the host of the event.“The Faculty of Forestry has been appointed as the host of this DWP Unhas activity. We sincerely thank the health sector team for their involvement and contributions in ensuring the success of this program. Cross-sector collaboration like this is essential to strengthening health education for all DWP members,” she said.

The Dean of the Faculty of Forestry Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. A. Mujetahid M., S.Hut., M.P., IPU, highlighted the importance of self-control in consuming food and daily products, as these have a direct impact on the body’s condition.“After watching educational content from Dokcay on YouTube, it became clear that we need to restrain ourselves in food consumption, as it directly affects our physical health,” he explained. On the same occasion, Prof. Mujetahid also introduced the Integrity Zone as a form of the Faculty of Forestry’s commitment to delivering professional, transparent, and service-oriented governance.

He further noted that the Faculty continues to promote an environmentally friendly campus by reducing the use of single-use plastics and implementing sustainable waste management practices.

As the main speaker, Dr. R. Cahyono, Sp. Naturopathy, widely known as Dokcay, explained that most chronic and degenerative diseases originate from cellular damage caused by unhealthy lifestyles.“Medical treatment generally tends to be palliative, while holistic health focuses on addressing the root causes of disease. Around 80 percent of degenerative diseases are related to gut health, in line with the principle you are what you eat,” he explained.

He also stressed the importance of preventive measures through healthy lifestyle practices, including avoiding late-night meals, limiting fried foods, not staying up late, practicing regular fasting, exercising consistently, and undergoing routine medical check-ups.

Through this activity, DWP Unhas is expected to foster greater awareness of holistic healthy living while supporting the creation of healthy, resilient families and a sustainable campus environment.
