Release of Unhas Forest Conservation Study Program Students Carrying Out General Practicum, Dean: Take Advantage of Learning Opportunities in the Field

Tamalanrea-Makassar. The Forest Conservation Study Program, Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University (Unhas) held a release event for students to carry out General Conservation Practices which will be carried out in the Special Purpose Forest Area (KHDTK) of the Teaching Forest of the Faculty of Forestry, Unhas, Maros Regency.

The activity took place starting at 09.00 WITA in the Forestry Faculty Lobby, Unhas Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar, Thursday (9/1/2025).

Starting the activity, Head of the Forest Conservation Study Program, Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ngakan Putu Oka, M.Sc. In his speech, he said that the PUK course was a forum for students to implement the knowledge gained in class.

“The presence of the PUK course is a forum for students to implement knowledge in the field. The material and theory obtained in class can be implemented well in the field. We need to know that skills are very important compared to theory because in the world of work, agencies or companies are more interested and add value to prospective employees who have good skills or abilities,” said Prof. Nope.

On the same occasion, the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. A. Mujetahid M., S.Hut., M.P. In his speech, he said that General Conservation Practice (PUK) is an opportunity to gain more knowledge and experience in the field.

“General Conservation Practice is one of the courses that is required for students to carry out practice in the field, the knowledge gained in class is implemented directly in the field. I hope students can make good use of this opportunity to increase their knowledge and experience,” explained Prof. A. Mujetahid.

Furthermore, Prof. A. Mujetahid said that implementing General Conservation Practices is not just practice but knowledge and experience that must be gained because the Forest Conservation study program has a SEED research building that can be used by students.

After the speech, the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry officially sent off the participants in the General Conservation Practice course which will be held from January 8 to February 12, 2025.
