Improving Students’ English Language Skills, Faculty of Forestry Unhas Provides English Language Course Facilities

The Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University (Unhas), through the Academic and Student Affairs Division, held an opening event for the English Short Course which took place starting at 16.00 WITA in the 1st Floor Hall of the Faculty of Forestry, Unhas Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar, Wednesday (30/10/2024).

One of the efforts of the Unhas Forestry Faculty to help students improve their English language skills is by providing English language course facilities which will last for 2 months, namely October – November 2024.

Starting the activities of the Deputy Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Faculty of Forestry, Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Syamsu Rijal, S.Hut., M.Sc., IPU. In his speech, he expressed his gratitude to the British School of English for being willing to help and be a partner in implementing the activities.

“Thank you very much to the British School of English for being willing to help and be a mentor in carrying out this activity with our various limitations. I hope that the students of the Faculty of Forestry Unhas can make good use and optimize this opportunity to learn English,” explained Prof. Syamsu Rijal.

Furthermore, Prof. Syamsu Rijal, who is often called Prof. Jay said that he hopes that the Britain School of English can provide good English learning methods and make it easier for students to learn English.

On the same occasion, the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. A. Mujetahid M., S.Hut., M.P. In his speech, he said that as time goes by, English language proficiency has become very important for students to be successful in their studies and careers in the future.

“Through this activity, it is hoped that we can increase the fluency of students at the Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University, in English, thereby increasing our students’ confidence in using English properly and correctly,” said Prof. A. Mujetahid.

Furthermore, Prof. A. Mujetahid said that during the English course process, approximately 120 participants from the Faculty of Forestry Unhas would be accompanied by the Student Activity Unit (UKM) of the International Forestry Students’ Association Local Committee of Hasanuddin University (IFSA LC UNHAS), one of the UKM Faculty of Forestry, Unhas, which is international in scale.

This activity aims to improve speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in English, so that students can communicate effectively in both academic and professional environments, strengthen students’ understanding of English grammar and syntax and expand students’ vocabulary and improve reading comprehension skills. student at the Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University.

After the welcoming speech, the activity continued with the pre-test. The activity went smoothly and ended with a group photo session.
