The Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University (Unhas), through the Doctoral Program (S3) in Forestry Science, is holding a Scientific Writing and Proposal Writing Workshop for postgraduate students of the Master’s (S2) and Doctoral (S3) Program in Forestry Science. The activity took place over two days, namely on 26 and 27 October 2024 in Pinrang Regency.
This activity carries the theme “Building a Framework for Thinking in Scientific Work: Scientific Writing Techniques and Research Proposals for Postgraduate Students”
Starting the activity, Chair of the Scientific Writing and Proposal Workshop Committee for Postgraduate Students at the Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University, Dr. Ir. Siti Halimah Larekeng, S.P., M.P. in his report said that this activity is a good alternative for helping Masters and Doctoral students in compiling scientific articles, completing final theses and dissertations. This activity was attended by lecturers and 37 students of the Master’s (S2) and Doctoral (S3) Forestry Science Study Program (Prodi).
“Writing scientific papers is one of the skills that must be possessed by advanced students, especially those who are studying Masters and Doctoral degrees. However, students often face obstacles in compiling scientific articles, dissertations and theses that comply with academic standards. Therefore, special training is needed to increase their capacity to write effectively, in accordance with good and correct academic writing procedures,” explained Dr. Halima.
On the same occasion, the Head of the Forestry Science Doctoral Study Program (S3), Faculty of Forestry, Unhas, Prof. Dr. forests. Muhammad Alif KS., S.Hut., M.Sc., in his speech expressed his thanks to the entire committee for their cooperation so that this activity could be carried out well. This activity is very important and useful in preparing scientific articles and completing theses and dissertations, which are one of the requirements for completing your studies.
“I hope that this activity can be put to good use by Master’s and Doctoral students in preparing scientific articles, theses and dissertations that are good and correct and in accordance with academic standards. And I also hope that this activity can help Master’s and Doctoral students complete their studies on time. ” said Prof. Alif.
Prof. Alif also explained that this activity aims to improve the ability of doctoral and master’s students in compiling scientific articles, dissertations and theses, introduce effective writing techniques and procedures for preparing scientific work according to academic publication standards, and provide participants with the opportunity to prepare the framework for their writing. as a first step towards preparing a complete scientific work.
Present as a resource person was Dr. Nurhady Sirimorok (Lecturer at the Faculty of Forestry, Unhas) presented material on scientific writing techniques and journal publications, discussing and analyzing examples of scientific articles.
The activity went smoothly and ended with a joint discussion session.
