Tamalanrea-Makassar. The Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University (Unhas) through the Deputy Dean for Academic and Student Affairs held a Forestalent talent search activity in 2024. The activity took place starting at 08.00 WITA in the 1st Floor Hall of the Faculty of Forestry, Unhas Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar, Saturday (26/10/2024).
Starting the activities of the Chair of the 2024 Forestalent Committee, Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University, Fatwa Faturachmat, S.Hut., M.Hut. in his report said that this competition was a national scale competition which was participated in by several universities in Indonesia including Hasanuddin University (Unhas), Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB), North Sumatra University (USU) and Makassar Muhammadiyah University ( UNISMUH).
“This activity was attended by approximately 174 people from various competition branches, namely, pop singing, regional singing, writing and reading poetry, environmental debates, environmental essays, environmental infographic posters and environmental videographics. I hope that the participants can take part in the competition well and maintain “high sportsmanship so that activities can be carried out well,” said Fatwa.
Fatwa further expressed his thanks to all parties, especially the committee, for their assistance and cooperation so that this activity could be carried out well.
On the same occasion, Deputy Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Faculty of Forestry, Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Syamsu Rijal, S.Hut., M.Si., IPU. In his speech, he said that the activity was the first step in capturing and detecting students throughout Indonesia who had extraordinary talents, especially students from the Faculty of Forestry, Unhas.
Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Ir. A. Mujetahid M., S.Hut., M.P. gave a speech and officially opened the Forestalent 2024 activities. In his speech he said that this activity is a routine activity that will be carried out every year and hopes that next year there will be more participants.
“This activity is an extraordinary forum and opportunity for all students throughout Indonesia to channel their gifts and talents. We really hope that all students can make maximum use of this opportunity as a way to achieve achievements on the national stage,” explained Prof. A. Mujetahid.
Furthermore, Prof. A. Mujetahid as Chair of FOReTIKA said that Forestalent’s future activities would collaborate with the Communication Forum for Forestry Universities throughout Indonesia (FOReTIKA) in accommodating the talents of students throughout Indonesia.
A total of 6 faculties within Unhas are competing in the 2024 Forestalent activities, namely the Faculty of Law, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Faculty of Economics and Business, Faculty of Forestry and Faculty of Public Health.
The activity will last for two days and will continue tomorrow, October 27 2024, for the final event and announcement of winners and awarding of prizes.
