Dean of the Faculty of Forestry Unhas Receives a Visit from Seameo Biotrop to Discuss Fellowship Dissemination and the Academic Leaders Program

Tamalanrea-Makassar. Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University (Unhas), Dr. Ir. A. Mujetahid M., S.Hut., M.P., IPU. accompanied by the Deputy Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Ir. Syamsu Rijal, S.Hut., M.Si., IPU. and Head of the Forestry Engineering Study Program, Dr. Ir. Siti Halimah Larekeng, S.P., M.P. welcomed the visit of the Manager of the Human Center and Innovation Department of Seameo Biotrop (Dewi Suryani, M.M.) with his entourage for the dissemination of the fellowship and academic leaders program. 

The activity took place starting at 11.00 WITA in the Senate Room, 2nd Floor, Faculty of Forestry, Unhas, Tuesday (25/6/2024). 

Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University, Dr. Ir. A. Mujetahid, S.Hut., M.P., IPU. welcomes the dissemination of the fellowship and academic leaders program offered by Biotrop for students and lecturers at the Faculty of Forestry, Unhas. 

“This program is quite interesting because there are many benefits that can be obtained by students and lecturers who are involved in implementing a fellowship from Biotrop, one of which is getting the opportunity to make joint publications in Biotrop,” said Dr. A. Mujetahid M. 

Dr. A. Mujetahid said that the Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University, is ready to implement the program offered by Biotrop and hopes that postgraduate students and lecturers can make good use of this opportunity. 

On the same occasion Dewi Suryani, M.M. (Manager of the Human Center and Innovation Department Seameo Biotrop) conveyed several things related to the benefits obtained from implementing the fellowship and the objectives of the academic leaders program. 

The academic leaders program aims to utilize, increase capacity and recognize the expertise of Human Resources (HR) in terms of developing and implementing programs, projects and institutional activities in the field of tropical biology, managing to increase HR competency in the field of tropical biology. 

“Not only that, increasing capacity and recognizing human resource expertise provides opportunities for stakeholders in the biodiversity sector to work and receive recognition through awards, increasing cooperation in the fields of science and education,” explained Dewi Suryani. 

The academic leaders program exists to support IKU DIKTI and strengthen national, regional and international partnerships through visiting fellows (fellowships) which can be participated in by master’s and doctoral students, while undergraduate students take part in the MSIB program, capstone internship, regular internship and research internship. 

Some of the benefits of participating in the fellowship are, getting office space facilities, national and regional networking opportunities, being involved in Seameo Biotrop programs and activities during the fellowship period, joint publications in Biotrop, capacity building and collaboration as well as mentoring from scientists, researchers and practitioners. 

The activity went smoothly until 13.00 and ended with discussions and group photos.
