Tamalanrea-Makassar. The Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University (Unhas) in collaboration with the Directorate of Environmental Partnerships of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) held a socialization activity for the Certified Independent Study and Internship Program (MSIB) Forestry Social Exploration of Future Forests (JaLan MaPan). The activity took place starting at 09.00 WITA in the 1st Floor Hall of the Faculty of Forestry Unhas, Wednesday (29/5/2024).
This activity was attended by 250 students from several universities in South Sulawesi, namely, Muhammadiyah University Makassar (Unismuh), Indonesian Muslim University Makassar (UMI), Maros Muslim University, Faculty of Forestry Unhas, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Unhas, Faculty of Agriculture Unhas and Faculty of Animal Husbandry Unhas.
Starting the activities of the Deputy Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, Unhas, Prof. Drg. Muhammad Ruslin, M.Kes., Ph.D., S.p.BM (K). In his speech, he expressed his gratitude to the Directorate of Environmental Partnerships at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry for providing the opportunity for Unhas students to participate in the MSIB Social Forestry program.
The MSIB Social Forestry program is quite interesting and useful for students to gain experience in the field related to social forestry issues. And as a first step in preparing prospective Unhas alumni for the world of work.
“I hope that Unhas students can make the best use of this opportunity to gain more knowledge and experience. Not only that, the advantage of this MSIB program is that students can convert courses for 20 credits,” said Prof. Ruslin.
Director of Environmental Partnerships at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry Dra. Jo Kumala Dewi, M.Sc. In his speech, he expressed his gratitude to the Dean and the leadership of the Faculty of Forestry, Unhas, who had facilitated the implementation of socialization activities for the Batch 7 Social Forestry MSIB Program.
“The MSIB Social Forestry Program is a new breakthrough presented by the Directorate of Environmental Partnerships and will certainly provide enormous benefits for the future of students and forestry,” explained Dra. Jo Kumala Dewi, M.Sc.
The Director of Environmental Partnerships further said that this program is open to the public, not only forestry majors, but for all majors. He invited students to get involved in development and solving problems in social forestry through the MSIB program.
After his remarks, the Director of Environmental Partnerships at the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Dra. Jo Kumala Dewi, M.Sc. officially opened the Socialization activities for the MSIB Forestry Social Exploration of the Future Forest Program (JaLan MaPan).
Present as a resource person, Dra. Desi Florita Syahril, M.Sc. (PIC MSIB Social Forestry) in his material said that the MSIB Social Forestry program aims to increase students’ knowledge and insight regarding social forestry programs, increase student experience regarding community empowerment in social forestry locations, and students can apply the knowledge gained on campus in forestry locations. social.
“This program designed “to provide appropriate and sustainable learning system support for students while also being able to contribute to realizing the goals of the social forestry program,” explained Desi.
The aim of the social forestry program is to create sustainable communities and forests through internship activities as social forestry assistants in three social forestry management systems, namely institutional management, area management and business management.
This activity was guided directly by the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University, Dr. Ir. A. Mujetahid M., S.Hut., M.P., IPU.
