Lecturer at the Faculty of Forestry, Unhas, Holds Community Service Regarding Silk Development in Soppeng Regency

Desa Pising-Kabupaten Soppeng. Lecturers at the Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University (Unhas) held community service activities for the Partnership Program with the theme PK-M: Pising Village Silk Development Center, Donri-Donri District, Soppeng Regency. The activity took place on Saturday (18/5/2024).

This activity aims to transfer knowledge to the community regarding institutions and share information on social media.

The community service team and lecturers at the Faculty of Forestry, Unhas, namely, Dr. A. Detti Yunianti, S.Hut., M.P. (Team Leader) and members namely, Prof. Dr. Supratman, S.Hut., M.P., Ira Taskirawati, S.Hut., M.Si., Ph.D. and Gusmiati, S.P., M.P. and Dr. Song of Tirtayasa Putra Pangestu, S.Hut., M.Si.

In his speech he said that many community service activities had been carried out in Pising Village, starting from improving the technical aspects of silkworm maintenance, spinning thread to improve the quality of silk thread from silk farmer groups to ecoprint education and developing mulberry leaf waste as a mushroom medium.

“In this activity, knowledge was transferred about institutions and information on social media,” concluded Andi Detti.

Present as a resource person, Prof. Dr. Supratman, S.Hut., M.P. said that so far there have been many obstacles in farmer groups and silk groups in Pising Village, Donri-Donri District, Soppeng Regency, this can be seen from their tendency to group together to get assistance so it is necessary to straighten out the functions and benefits of the institutions they have to create.

“These institutions must have the same goal to solve problems within the same rules, like birds that fly in groups, they fly to the same place,” explained Prof. Supratman.

Dr. Song of Tirtayasa Putra Pangestu, S.Hut., M.Sc. also be a resource person and provide educational material related to the importance of promoting village activities and products on social media, this is done not only as a means of promotion but also as a means of seeking collaborative networks.
