Faculty of Forestry Unhas Hosts GUMSB Discusses Religion Based on Love: Primary Needs of Modern Humans

Tamalanrea-Makassar. Hasanuddin University (Unhas) is again holding the Unhas Movement for Study and Congregational Prayer (GUMSB) activities. On this occasion, the Unhas Forestry Faculty acted as host. The activity, which is part of Unhas’s routine agenda every week, takes place starting at 15.00 WITA, limited offline at the Ash Shahabi Mosque, Faculty of Forestry, Unhas, and connected virtually via the zoom meeting application, Tuesday (8/11/2023).

GUMSB this time was guided by Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Musbir Tahir, M.Sc. as moderator. The activity began with the reading of the Al-Qur’an and Saritilawah of Surah Ali-Imran (3) Verses 92 – 97 by Ust. Habibie Hasan and Ariadi.

The activity was officially opened by the Secretary of the Unhas Academic Senate, Prof. Dr. Ir. Budimawan, DEA. In his speech, he said that the implementation of GUMSB was a momentum in mentadabburi, the word of Allah and as a reminder for all of us.

“This is our momentum to always remember that it is not only world affairs that we always remember and work on, but matters of the afterlife are no less important to remember and always do good deeds as a field for our reward and provisions in the afterlife,” explained Prof. Budimawan.

Furthermore, Prof. Budimawan said that it is necessary to implement the values ​​obtained in this activity so that we can reflect on religious knowledge and apply it to character and morals.

Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University, Dr. Ir. A. Mujetahid M., S.Hut., M.P., IPU. In his speech, he expressed his gratitude for the university’s trust in the Faculty of Forestry Unhas to host the implementation of GUMSB activities.

“Thank you for giving your trust to the Unhas Forestry Faculty to host this activity, we are always ready to be involved in GUMSB activities. “I hope that this activity can become a forum for the entire Unhas academic community and all of us to always do good deeds that are worth worship,” explained Dr. A. Mujetahid.

On this occasion, present as a resource person was Ustadz Prof. Dr. H. Ahmad M. Sewang, MA. which provides material on “Religion Based on Love: The Primary Needs of Modern Humans”. In his tausiah it is explained that love is a Muslim behavior, the sign of someone who loves the person they love is obedience.

It was stated that Prophet Ibrahim’s message about love was essentially a momentum to instill love and prove it by doing good deeds. This is contained in Q.S. Al-Syu’araa (26): 83-85.

“The sign of a person’s love for God is to uphold God’s religion by being a follower of the Messenger of God SAW and likes to remember God,” explained Prof. Ahmad M. Sewang.

After delivering the material, it was continued with a discussion and question and answer session. GUMSB was attended interactively by approximately 300 participants and continued smoothly until 17.00 WITA and continued with evening prayers together.
