Upgrading Visual Skills! Faculty of Forestry Unhas Public Relations Trains KHDTK Managers in Basic Photography Techniques

Maros, January 14, 2026 — The Public Relations Unit of the Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas), initiated a basic photography training program as a strategic effort to enhance the quality of social media content, making it more creative, informative, and communicative. The training specifically targeted all staff members managing the Special Purpose Forest Area (Kawasan Hutan Dengan Tujuan Khusus / KHDTK) of the Unhas Educational Forest.

The activity was held at the VIP Eboni Hall, Unhas Educational Forest, located in Bengo, Cenrana District, Maros Regency. The training aimed to equip KHDTK managers with fundamental photography skills to enable them to effectively document various activities with strong visual value and readiness for publication on official digital platforms.

The materials covered included basic photography concepts, composition techniques, camera angles, and practical examples of activity documentation. Participants were introduced to photography as both an art and a technical process of capturing light using a camera to produce images, with key functions as tools for documentation, visual communication, and information delivery.

The session also discussed five commonly used photographic angles: low angle, high angle, eye level, bird’s-eye view, and frog’s-eye view. Selecting the appropriate angle was emphasized as a crucial factor influencing the visual message and overall impression conveyed in a photograph.

The session speaker, Andi Rezki Pratama Putra, S.I.Kom, a member of the Faculty of Forestry Unhas Public Relations Team, highlighted the importance of basic visual skills for area managers in the digital era.

“Photography is not merely about taking pictures, but about how an image can tell a story. By understanding basic photography and shooting angles, KHDTK managers are expected to produce more communicative documentation that is ready for publication,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Unhas Educational Forest KHDTK, Andi Achmad Rizaldy AS, S.Hut., M.Hut., expressed his appreciation for the initiative undertaken by the Faculty of Forestry Unhas Public Relations Unit to support capacity building among area managers.

“This training is highly relevant to the needs of KHDTK managers. Proper documentation will strengthen activity reporting, program publication, and showcase the role of the Unhas Educational Forest KHDTK as an active learning area,” he explained.

Through this activity, stronger collaboration is expected to be fostered between area managers and the public relations team in delivering accurate, engaging, and easily understood information to the wider community.
