The event began at 10:00 a.m. WITA in the first-floor auditorium of the Faculty of Forestry, Unhas Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar, on Wednesday (September 24, 2025).
Students of the Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University, were enthusiastic about participating in this activity, as seen by the large number of students, approximately 300 people, who participated in the socialization activity on preventing and handling violence.
Starting the activity, the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Ir. A. Mujetahid M., S.Hut., M.P., IPU. in his remarks expressed his gratitude to the Unhas Violence Prevention and Handling Task Force (PKK) Team, especially the Team Leader, for the trust of the Unhas Faculty of Forestry as the host of this activity.
“Prevention and handling of frustration is very important to be socialized to lecturers, educational staff and students as a first step in preventing all forms of violence, be it sexual violence or violence in other forms that are carried out inside and outside the campus environment,” said Prof. A. Mujetahid.
Prof. A. Mujetahid further stated that, given the current situation, violence is prevalent and the devastating impact it has on the victims. He hopes this activity can be a way to prevent and mitigate violence on and off campus.
Present as a resource person, Prof. Dr. Farida Patittingi, S.H., M.Hum. (Head of the Unhas PPK Task Force Team) in her material conveyed the policy for preventing and handling violence in higher education as stipulated in the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Regulation Number 55 of 2024 concerning the Prevention and Handling of Violence in Higher Education Environments.
The targets in efforts to prevent and handle university violence include campus residents, university leaders and university partners.
“Violence in higher education is any act with or without physical force that causes harm to the body or life, results in physical, sexual, or psychological suffering, and deprives people of their liberty, including causing them to faint or become helpless,” said Prof. Farida.
Some forms of violence include psychological violence, bullying, sexual violence, and intolerance. Violence occurs because of relationships and power, and between superiors and inferiors.
“Efforts to handle cases of violence include enforcing the code of ethics, administrative legal proceedings, and criminal legal proceedings. The sanctions imposed include administrative sanctions, ethical sanctions, and criminal sanctions,” explained Prof. Farida.
The activity went smoothly and ended with a joint discussion session.
