Fahutan, Faperta and Fapet Unhas Joint Discussion Discusses Efforts to Increase Rankings in WUR QS by Subject Agriculture and Forestry

Tamalanrea-Makassar. The Faculty of Forestry (Fahutan), Faculty of Agriculture (Faperta) and Faculty of Animal Husbandry (Fapet) Hasanuddin University (Unhas) held a joint meeting to discuss efforts to increase ranking in the World University Rankings (WUR) QS by subject Agriculture and Forestry to occupy positions 201-250 or 150-200. The activity took place starting at 13.00 WITA in the Senate Meeting Room, 2nd Floor, Faculty of Forestry, Unhas Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar, Monday (24/3/2025).

Present at this activity were the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Unhas (Prof. Dr. Ir. Mujetahid M., S.Hut., M.P., IPU.), the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Unhas (Prof. Dr. Ir. Salengke, M.Sc.), the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Unhas (Prof. Dr. Syahdar Baba, S.Pt., M.Si.) and the deputy deans from the three faculties.

Starting the activities of the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Mujetahid M., S.Hut., M.P., IPU. In his speech, he said that Unhas had once again made a proud achievement, becoming the only university outside Java that managed to enter the Top 500 QS World University Rankings (WUR) by Subject in 2025 for Agriculture and Forestry, with a world ranking of 251-300 which was released on March 12 2025.

“In order to increase Unhas’s ranking to be able to occupy positions 201-250 or 150-200, efforts and strategies are needed to achieve that, one of the efforts is to increase publications,” explained Prof. Mujetahid.

Furthermore, Prof. Mujetahid said that the strategy of the Faculty of Forestry Unhas in increasing publications is to target one lecturer to publish two journals in one year so that it is very significant in increasing publications to support an increase in the WUR ranking by subject for the fields of Agriculture and Forestry.

On the same occasion, the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Unhas, Prof. Dr. Syahdar Baba, S.Pt., M.Si. said that the Faculty of Animal Husbandry’s efforts and strategy in increasing publications was to encourage master’s program (S2) students to publish their journals before the seminar results.

“The Faculty of Animal Husbandry is very strict in terms of publications for Master’s students, they cannot hold seminars on the results if the journal has not been published and this has been proven to be very significant in increasing publications in our faculty,” explained Prof. Shahdar Baba.

This meeting will continue to develop strategies to achieve a ranking of 201-250 WUR QS by subject Agriculture and Forestry.
