Tamalanrea-Makassar. The Faculty of Forestry of Hasanuddin University (Unhas) held a public lecture by presenting the Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia as a resource person. The activity took place starting at 12.30 WITA at the Prof. A. Amiruddin Auditorium, Unhas Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar, Wednesday (14/5/2025).
The Rector of Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc. in his speech said that it was an honor for Unhas to have the presence of the Minister and Deputy Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia. Unhas will be part of the efforts of the Minister and Deputy Minister in building Indonesia based on the principle of sustainable forests.
“I think the presence of KHDTK Forest Education Faculty of Forestry Unhas symbolically becomes part of our efforts in sustainable forest development. Our commitment with the presence of KHDTK Forest Education is not only for scientific research and environmental preservation but also part of our efforts to become a prosperous and prosperous Indonesian nation by developing the principles of sustainability in this case sustainable forests and part of the world’s lungs,” explained Prof. JJ.
Furthermore, Prof. JJ said that hopefully the existence of KHDTK Hutan Pendidikan is not only for students and academics but in the future we hope it will be part of the contribution of foresters in relation to interdisciplinary research development. The academic community of the Faculty of Forestry, Unhas is ready to make a real contribution to the development of anything that then becomes the current government policy and becomes a very important pillar.
Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia Raja Juli Antoni, Ph.D. in this public lecture conveyed the importance of education and strategic steps to resolve problems in the forestry sector.
Education is important in carrying out human liberation, educated people will come out of ignorance and oppression, become people who are literate in science and then become social transformers. In essence, education has a function in carrying out liberation.
“The government has made it very easy for us to get an education, namely by presenting several very good schemes to support education, one of which is the LPDP scholarship,” explained Raja Juli.
The Minister of Forestry said that forests are not inherited from our parents but are entrusted to future generations, so we must protect the forests. Forestry problems today are so complex, terunial conflicts occur everywhere, indigenous groups and indigenous peoples.
The complexity of the problems that occur in the forestry sector can be unraveled with several things, the first of which is digital transformation, the problem is tried to be unraveled with the seriousness of managing forests using the most advanced technology so that tenurial conflicts can be resolved one by one.
Both ministries are open to cooperation and collaboration with any party, the state must humbly say that not everything can be done individually by the state, it requires collaboration and cooperation with all parties including universities.
