Tamalanrea-Makassar. The Faculty of Forestry of Hasanuddin University (Unhas) and the Global Environmental Facility – Small Grants Programme Indonesia (GEF-SGP) have agreed to establish cooperation in developing the tridharma of higher education. The agreement was stated in the signing of a cooperation agreement signed directly by the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Mujetahid M., S.Hut., M.P., IPU. and the National Coordinator of GEF-GSP, Sidi Rana Menggala, Ph.D. The activity took place starting at 13.00 WITA in the Senate Meeting Room, 2nd Floor, Faculty of Forestry, Unhas Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar, Tuesday (27/5/2025).
Present at this activity from the Faculty of Forestry Unhas were Prof. Dr. Ir. A. Mujetahid M., S.Hut., M.P. (Dean), Prof. Dr. Ir. Syamsu RIjal, S.Hut., M.Si., IPU. (Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs), Syahidah, S.Hut., M.Si., Ph.D. (Vice Dean for Partnership, Research, Innovation and Alumni), Head of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Study Programs, Sidi Rana Menggala, Ph.D. (National Coordinator GEF-GSP), Viringga Kusuma (Founder of PT. Amati Indonesia), and Hery Budiarto (Program Assistant of The GEF-SGP).
Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Ir. A. Mujetahid M., S.Hut., M.P., IPU. in his speech said that he welcomed this collaboration which aims to utilize the resources owned by both parties to synergize in implementing the tridharma activities of higher education, namely education, research and community service.
“I hope this collaboration can run well and certainly can provide positive income for both parties. The collaboration between GEF-GSP and the Faculty of Forestry, Unhas, which includes student exchanges, research collaborations, joint publications, joint conferences and community service activities can run well,” explained Prof. A. Mujetahid.
Furthermore, Prof. A. Mujetahid said that in achieving good rankings on a national and international scale, a network of cooperation is very necessary, the Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University is ready to collaborate with anyone and in any form, one of which is the development of commodities such as aren and spices.
On the same occasion, the National Coordinator of GEF-GSP, Sidi Rana Menggala, Ph.D. in his speech expressed his gratitude to the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Unhas and his staff for welcoming this collaboration.
“Global Environmental Facility – Small Grants Programme Indonesia is a small grants program dedicated to supporting environmental and sustainable development projects in Indonesia that aims to support innovative projects at the local level that focus on environmental conservation and sustainable development,” explained Sidi Menggala.
Furthermore, Sidi Menggala said that he hopes that through this collaboration, the development of social forestry-based commodities and innovation of products or commodities produced by the community can be standardized and if possible, certified so that it can increase the value of community commodities.
