Tamalanrea-Makassar. Hasanuddin University’s Faculty of Forestry joins four universities that manage the field of Wood Science and Technology from Malaysia and Indonesia, namely the Department of Natural Resources Industry, Faculty of Forestry and Environment, Putra Malaysia University, Department of Forest Products, Faculty of Forestry and Environment IPB University, Study Program of Forestry, Hasanuddin University Faculty of Forestry, and the Study of Forestry Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Mataram University, Indonesia held an International Conference with the theme “On the Future of Wood Science & Technology Education (FWSTE)”. This activity aims to discuss the latest trends in wood science and technology programs in Indonesia and Malaysia. This activity takes place virtually through the zoom meeting platform (27/5).
The conference involved speakers from 11 universities from seven countries, namely Universiti Putra Malaysia (Malaysia), IPB University, Hasanuddin University, Mataram University (Indonesia), American University, Michigan University, Northern Arizona University (USA), University of Helsinki (Finland) ), Mie University (Japan), Universität Für Bodenkultur Wien (Austria), and the University of Lorraine (France).
The Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University sent two speakers to this conference, namely Dr. Forest Muhammad Alif K. Sahide, S.Hut., M.Si and Syahidah, S.Hut., M.Si., Ph.D. which will review academic programs and the effectiveness of online learning related to wood science and technology.
This conference also involved four lecturers to join the joint committee, namely Dr. Ir. Astuti Arif, S.Hut., M.Si .; Dr. Andi Detti Yuniarti, S.Hut., M.Si .; Dr. Sahriyanti Saad, S.Hut., M.Si .; and Agussalim, S.Hut., M.Si. The poster judging also included one of the lecturers from the Faculty of Forestry, namely Ira Taskirawati, S.Hut., M.Sc., Ph.D. Apart from lecturers, approximately 35 students were registered to have registered to participate in this conference. This activity was also in series with the announcement of 3 best posters awarded.
Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University, Dr. A. Mujetahid, S.Hut., MP in an interview on Thursday (27/5) expressed his appreciation to all parties involved and supported the holding of this conference, both lecturers and students. Appreciation is also conveyed to partners from the university for the existing collaboration in discussing challenges and developments related to wood science and technology in the future.
