There are four categories of article and journal indexers such as Scopus and Web of Science, namely, the Q1 category is the highest category which shows 75-100% of the IF distribution, Q2 for the middle-high position (between 50% and 75%), the middle Q3 to the top position (25% to 50%), and the lowest Q4 position. (less than 25% of the IF distribution).
In Indonesia, Forest and Society managed to be in first place, second among twenty journals in Asia, second among emerging countries such as China, Russia and Brazil, and first in the category of forestry. Forest and Society has four categories, namely the Q1 category (Forestry), the Q1 category (Geography, planning and development), the Q2 category (Nature and landscape, conservation) and the Q2 category (Plant science).
The existence of Forest and Society is very beneficial for increasing the ranking of Hasanuddin University, as much as three percent of the Forest and Society contributed to the success of Hasanuddin University in getting second place in Indonesia.
Through an interview on Monday (17/5) Dr. forest. Muhammad Alif KS., S.Hut., M.Si explained why Forest and Society managed to get Q1 rank
“Forest and Society managed to get Q1 rank because the quality published articles are shown with very high citations. Forest and Society citations in 2017 amounted to 10 citations, then increased by 24 citations, in 2020 as many as 150 citations and this year 72 citations and will continue to grow, explained Muhammad Alif
Sitasi is a bibliography of a number of documents referenced or quoted by a document and each bibliography of these documents is contained in the bibliography of the citing documents, which specifically examines the authors and other works of
Dr. forest. Muhammad Alif KS also said that the quality of our citations comes from quality journals, such as international journals, nature and conservation journals, remote sensing journals, Forest and Society journals and other quality journals.
Forest and Society was officially launched in 2016 by the Rector of Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, MA and started publishing the first journal in 2017.
Dr. forest. Muhammad Alif KS hopes that in the next few years the journal Forest and Society will be the first journal to have an impact factor, because in Indonesia there is no journal that has an impact factor.
