Unhas Faculty of Forestry Holds Workshop to Assist Publication of Forestry Science Doctoral Program (S3) Students

Tamalanrea-Makassar. In order to facilitate doctoral study program (S3) students in accelerating the completion of their studies, the Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University held a Publication Assistance Workshop for Forestry Science Doctoral Program (S3) Students. The activity took place starting at 10.00 WITA in the Sitinaja Forest and Society Research Group (FSRG) Room, 3rd Floor, Faculty of Forestry, Unhas, Monday (21/11/2022).

Starting the activities of the Head of the Forestry Science Doctoral Study Program (S3), Faculty of Forestry, Unhas, Dr. Ir. Yusran Jusuf, S.Hut., M.Si., IPU. In his speech, he said that this activity aims to facilitate students in completing their studies on time.

“This activity is not just a workshop, but doctoral students will be coached directly by the FSGR Team in writing journal articles. “I hope that through this activity, students can more easily complete journal writing and help complete their studies more quickly,” explained Prof. Yusran.

Furthermore, Prof. Yusran stated that doctoral study program (S3) students should be more enthusiastic about writing, so that their journals and dissertations can be completed quickly and he hopes that there will be students who graduate as soon as possible to speed up the A accreditation process for the doctoral study program (S3) in Forestry Science, Faculty of Forestry, Unhas.

After the speech, the activity then continued with the presentation of material from the resource person. Present as a resource person, Prof. Dr. forests. Muhammad Alif KS., S.Hut., M.Si. (Editor-in-Chief) presented material on mapping scientific writing topics and Nurhady Sirimorok, S.S., M.A. bringing material related to follow-up to students’ scientific article writing needs.

“The journal review process takes quite a long time, because the article is first edited in the journal, then the journal will carry out a screening stage for whether it is suitable or not. If it is suitable, the article will be sent to the review board for further processing,” explained Prof. Alif.

Furthermore, Prof. Alif said that in the process of completing journals, climate and time allocation are needed to help and encourage the process of completing scientific articles. Not only that, encouragement and criticism from other people are also important for improving our journal.

Nurhady Sirimorok, S.S., M.A. conveyed that several types and guidelines for preparing scientific journal article manuscripts include original research papers, review papers, policy forums and so on.

Original research papers are research articles that have never been published before as original research papers, with a word limit of 8,000 words (but not limited).

Nurhady Sirimorok also provided an overview of the article writing needs of Forestry Science PhD study program students to simplify the process of writing scientific journals.

After the presentation of the material, the activity then continued with a group discussion. Activities continued smoothly until 12.00 WITA.
